Bumper post-xmas post!
Thanks for the massive response to my last self-pitying post. Cheered me up no end. Had a v.good xmas in terms of material wealth recieved (woo hoo!) but a little unusual, christmas day was fine but my parents had to work boxing day, so it was just me and my sister, all day. My Mum is now very popular in silver screen entertainment, on account of buying me a shedload of obscure dvds, the reviews to which i present to you now, with house of flying daggers thrown in for good measure. Sorry boys, I'm a Derek...and Dereks don't Run! Ah, Bad Taste. Peter Jackson and the boys from Wingnut films in their embryonic years. No budget and no plot but still, you can see why it's a cult classic when some of it's so brilliantly shot (more or less), and then there's the sicko humour. If eating brains with a spoon wasn't enough then there's Peter Jackson wearing a top hat to stop the back of his head falling off, or the sheep that get blown up with a bazooka. Thrown up yet? if not there's always... Braindead Wingnut's next movie, this time it's zombies, and this time they actually had money to spend on actors and effects. Far more accomplished than bad taste and shows perhaps what they would have done with their previous effort if they'd had the resources. Favorite moments? Kung Fu priest ("stand back boy, this calls for devine intervention!" "I kick arse for the Lord!") The Zombies having diner, and the whole of the chapter entitled 'The Lawnmower' i'll leave you guys to work that one out. Bill Bailey-Part Troll I've said it before and i'll say it again, Bill Bailey is a genius, or at least a madman. This time though, he has a much bigger satge show and more effects and stuff than he did for bewilderness and you can tell he's having fun with them, like when he does the scale of evil and stuff. And then there's the tribute to Kraftwerk, playing the hokey kokey "mahct die linke arm eine. die linke arm aus. ein aus ein aus....etc Zatoichi The best of the films i got for xmas, the fight scenes are wicked and very different from the usual due to beat takeshi's fighting style, and the representation of japanese peasant life is cool cos it is so light hearted even as it is serious, go and buy it. House of flying daggers FOr a long time i've harboured a secret unrequited love for Zhang Ziyi, wow, she's great, and she gets all the best scenes on this movie.....sigh....... More of a plot to it than hero, but less of the crazy outlandish action sequences, the fights are smaller but still as well choreographed. The bit with the dancing and the drums is the best, but the climax in the snow is also very good, even if it does get silly when everyone appears to die and then gets up again about three times each! still, well worth the investment. All in all i feel a lot better and much less subdued (as my mate becca puts it) than i did last time i updated. Kayleigh? cant' be bothered with a clever title
you may remeber this entry, well, even as she sent those messages it turns out Kayleigh still had a boyfriend, something that would usually come up if you tell someone you really like em, no wonder he got paranoid and accused her of cheating on him this week after Dan and i met up with her at the pub (did she? pfft i Fucking wish...). so basically i've been heavily deluded for some time now, and have come out of it just in time for christmas...great. i'm not that upset (at least not in the hysterical flood of tears sense) i just feel really stupid, like everyone else could see it but me, what a fucking loser. Well, Merry Christmas to all the rest of you anyway, i intend to get heavily drunk on Christmas eve so that should help (at least Mr Daniels still loves me) hopefully i'll have cheered up by the next time i post. All Right!
You are one of THE KNIGHTS WHO SAY 'NI'! Tidy and orderly is just the way you like thing. You have a place for everything and everything in its place...but the demands you set for others are a bit far fetched. Cut down a tree with a herring? And you wonder why you and your fellow knights live in the woods! Which Monty Python Character Are You brought to you by Quizilla You're Homer and his deadly Sin - Glutony! Which Simpsons Character / 7th Deadly Sin Are You? brought to you by Quizilla nice, Whats with all this Fuckin' rain!?!?!?! i am soaked goddammit! no updates for a few days cos i was working for beck and pollitzers again, on a landfill, that smelt, and had rats and many seagulls, joy. done with that now though so am much happier. but i have lost the ability to write in even a vaguely gripping manor about anything. i have developed something i call engineerspeak. ones voice becomes very gravely and you say 'faakin' in every other sentence and never use too many polysyllabic words like polysyllabic. it'll take me a while to get over it... in other news, i'm goin out tonight to the tap 'n' tin, and if all goes well SHE will be there, i daren't say anything else unless it tempts fate and somethign else buggers up again (for example last week she asked me if i was going on friday and then fell very ill during the week, i had my suspicions about this but then concluded that if she were trying to avoid me then why ask me out in the first place.) i try to be optimistic but my inner pessimist won't let me have a moments peace. still i'm hoping i'll tip the balance in my favour, i've got me lucky boxers on, the ones with the little shamrocks all over them. fortune favours the bold i say. todays t-shirt:I'm the only Gay in the Village! todays music: Green Day-Warning # posted by The Prisoner | 11:47 AM | Monday, December 13, 2004

Tardy...
was a bit busy the last few days of uni so i din't get to update properly. *prostrates oneself on floor and begs forgiveness* aaaaaaaannnnnnyway... On Wednesday MotormouthDTM and i went to see the wildhearts live at the astoria, oh me oh my what fun! The first support band Deckard were ok, solid and pleasing to the ear, they were also instantly forgetable. the cardiacs on the other hand could be quite possibly the weirdest thing i have ever seen in my entire life. here they are... they went on stage dressed like that too. righto the sound....ultra heavy squeaky gay prog rock that has decided carnival music goes with everything. :S made no sense to me at the time either but it was actually not that bad, though all the diehard wildhearts fans were not so enthusiastic. to find out more for yourself (if you dare) go here Then came the wildhearts...i think it's enough to say my ears were still ringing more than 48 hours later. loud, simple and very easy to sing along to, and ginger is a class frontman and has fantastic dreadlocks observe, when he headbangs they go everywhere! and a good time was had by all.... In Other news i can strongly recommend you all go and see the phantom of the opera, it is a class film and the soundtrack can best be described as rollocking. It's also refreshing to see a film where the producers have resisted the compulsion of "WE MUST HAVE A STAR WHO IS VERY FAMOUS AND/OR EXPENSIVE!!!" both christine and the phantom are played by complete unknowns and the biggest american star in there (minnie driver) is essentially comic relief. Joel Shumacher I salute you! am off uni for a month now so my access to pc's is rather limited till jan 10th. i'll update if i can but don't expect much till then ttfn todays music:Jimi Hendrix- all along the watchtower todays t-shirt: www.getalife.cunt # posted by The Prisoner | 1:51 PM | Tuesday, December 07, 2004
